Sharing some exciting news: I’m honored to have been selected for the 2026 Pride Poet-in-Residence program at the Arts Club of Washington!
My fellow cohort includes: Gregory Adams, Xochi Quetzali Cartland, Angelique Palmer, and Nico Penaranda. I’m excited to be in community with these poets, read their work, attend their workshops, and soak in the queer literary goodness.
Starting in January, there’s a full lineup of free writing workshops being led by the 2026 Pride-Poet-in-Residence poets. These workshops focus on a variety of topics and poetry forms. Come write with us!

Pride Poetry Workshop: Queer Homage
March 24 | 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. EDT | Arts Club of Washington
In this workshop, we will create poems in conversation with, or in the style of, or in response to another poem, or piece of art, or song. “After poems” are a powerful form of connection across mediums and artists — they can generate dialogue, honor, subvert, or reclaim. Open to writers of all levels of experience and backgrounds. Free.
Huge thanks to Kim Roberts, who spearheads this program. Kim is the author of seven books of poems, two walking tour guidebooks, and editor of two poetry anthologies. She also created DC Pride Poem-a-Day with Jon Gann, which spotlights LGBTQ+ poets from the greater Washington, D.C. region, releasing a new video each day during the month of June, in honor of National Pride Month. DC Pride Poem-a-Day has been featuring queer DMV poets since 2022. I’m grateful to have had two poems featured by the project — “Valuable weight” in 2024 and “When you’ve got the bugs” in 2022.
The Arts Club of Washington, founded in April 1916, was the first art club in the city and is the oldest nonprofit arts organization in Washington, D.C. For over a century, the Arts Club of Washington has brought together people devoted to the arts — architecture, cinematography, dance, drama, literature, music, painting, photography, and sculpture — and promoted the appreciation of historic preservation through study, restoration, and preservation of the James Monroe House.
Hope to see you at the workshops next year!
